a registered professional engineer in civil engineering in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
June, 2006:
- Mr. Fred Radcliffe has successfully completed the training course "Bridge Inspection Refresher Training" offered through the National Highway Institute April 19-21 at the University of Mississippi. This thee-day course provides a review of the National Bridge Inventory (NBI) inspection methods and includes discussions on structure inventory items, structure types, and the appropriate
codes for the Federal Structure, Inventory and Appraisal reporting.
May, 2006:
- Childs Engineering
Corporation has been selected by the United States Navy for a five year
contract, to perform inspections, analysis and design of Naval waterfront
facilities worldwide. Childs first began
as the initial contractor with the Navy for this program in 1978.
March, 2006:

Corporation is pleased to announce that Mr. Robert Garrity, PE has recently
obtained registration in Massachusetts as a registered professional engineer in civil engineering.
April, 2005:
- Childs Engineering has received the "Honor Award" from the Boston Society of Landscape Architects for our work on the parks and recreation facilities at the Nashua Street Park in Boston.

June, 2004:
- Construction
of the Childs’ design berth for the “Friendship” is nearing completion. Childs, as a consultant to Bargmann Hendrie +
Archetype was responsible for the design of an "accessible" path for
visitors to the sailing vessel "Friendship” at the Salem Maritime
Park.

May, 2004:
- Childs
Engineering Corporation was selected to assist Electric Boat in Groton, Connecticut
in the emergency evaluation of the conditions of Graving Dock Nos. 1, 2, and
3. Childs is providing incident review
evaluation and current condition evaluation for the docks. Childs’ continuing work will include
development of a monitoring program for the steel sheetpile cells as well as
underwater inspection of the exterior portions of the cells to determine
current condition.
April, 2004:
- Construction
nears completion on North
Point Park
and Nashua Street Park
on the shores of the Charles River. Childs Engineering Corporation, as
consultants to the Halvorson Design Group on Nashua Street and Carr Lynch and Sandell
on North Point Park, was responsible for the design of the marine
structures and river edge conditions for these parks. Childs Engineering Corporation designed the
water features for North
Point Park
as well as the partial demolition of existing seawalls and installation of new
bulkhead structures and bridge abutment areas for North Point. Childs was responsible for the slope
stabilization and foundations for new granite seawalls at Nashua Street as well as the foundation
for the main fountain for the Nashua
Street Park
project.

March, 2004:
- Childs
Engineering Corporation, as a consultant to Bargmann Hendrie + Archetype, is
finalizing construction plans for the rehabilitation of the North Bridge
at the National Park Service in Concord,
Massachusetts. This project includes extensive trail and
landscape rehabilitation design being performed by the team.
February, 2004:
- Childs
Engineering Corporation has been selected to assist the EDIC/BRA in developing plans
and specifications for a partial demolition of the failing deck structure at
the South Jetty, in South Boston,
Massachusetts.
- Structural Engineer, Robert Garrity completes an LAP Certification course by the Maine DOT for Local Project Administration. Congratulations Bob.

- Childs Engineering Corporation launches new web site.
January, 2004:
- Childs Engineering Corporation recently
completed an above and under water inspection of waterfront facilities at
Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka and Sasebo, Japan.

These facilities are
considered the United States Navy’s forward line of defense and are vital to
national security. A total of 1,313 piles, 113,462 linear feet of seawall, and
3,702 feet of anchor chain were inspected at these facilities. In addition
Childs Engineering completed an inspection of all mooring hardware at these
facilities. A comprehensive report covering observed conditions, structural
assessments, and recommendations for repair to each berthing facility at these
bases was completed and submitted to the Navy for review.
December, 2003:
- Childs Engineering received an "Excellence in
universal design great places fit for people" award for our work on the Long & Central Wharves Marine Berthing
Facility project from the Adaptive Environments - Human Centered Design Organization.

- Childs Engineering has recently become a member of The Association of Diving Contractors International.

Childs performs diving activities according to the consensus standards of ADCI and OSHA in all of its diving activities. Childs feels strongly that in order to perform quality underwater inspections qualified diver/engineers will consistently get the job done with the highest level of safety and accurate, clear and concise reporting and assessment.
